Mt. Mitchell Necklace - Benefits Helene Aid
Western North Carolina is our home away from home, and it’s been heartbreaking to see the devastation there from Helene. Here in the Lowcountry, our community has been doing what they can to send food and supplies to the affected areas.
Years ago, I started collecting sand/rocks/soil when we would go on hikes in WNC and it seemed fitting to make something to benefit local efforts. This necklace is fused with sand and soil from Mt. Mitchell in Asheville. Typically I donate a portion of the profits to the Friends of the Mountains to Sea Trail. For these pieces, 100% of the proceeds will go to two local organizations that have been greatly helping after Helene. One is The Community Table in Sylva, NC. They are a year-round food pantry program that is going above and beyond after the storm to feed anyone in need. The other is UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, to their US disaster response. UMCOR is unique in that 100% of donations go directly to aid, not to admin costs, and they have direct ties to WNC with a huge presence in the Lake Junaluska area.
Thank you for your donation.
